Mum goes out of town, leaving dad alone with the kids and a long list of instructions. But on the first day, there is no milk, which means no breakfast, and no tea for dad. So dad goes out to get some milk, but is delayed a really long time (or so it seems to his hungry children). When he returns and faces questions about what took him so long, he recounts his many adventures (involving pirates, aliens, a time-traveling stegosaurus, wumpires, volcanoes, sparkly ponies...), assuring his kids that throughout thick and thin, he always remembered THE MILK (fortunately). This book is so much silly fun, and is elaborately illustrated by Skottie Young.
