Parmalee Coding Club

The Parmalee Coding Club began in December, 2014, and has quickly turned into an extremely popular extra-curricular activity.  Parent-volunteers (and tech professionals) Charles Fleet, Christine McKinnon, Bob Fager, and Rob Christie, with the support and sponsorship of Instructional Coach Donna Sutherland, facilitate computer science instruction using the self-paced curriculum of Code.org.    New this term: the Parmalee Coding Club will be held on alternating Tuesday and Wednesday mornings before school, so that students participating in band and orchestra will still be able to learn coding.

On Tuesday, January 27, a record 61 Parmalee students grades K-5 participated, assisted by 11 parent volunteers and 6 teachers.  Students were completely engaged as they worked their way through self-directed coding modules.  Thank you so much to the parent volunteers who make this engaging and essential 21st century learning possible for our students!
